Dolan’s promotion is still subject to the appropriate regulatory approvals, while a decision on whether he stays in Dubai, where he has been for the last 10 years, or moves to London has yet to be made.
OMI said in a statement Dolan had strong technical, operational and sales knowledge, combined with an excellent market insight and a proven ability to develop and grow a business.
“This is a natural progression for Brendan, and is recognition of the significant contribution Brendan has made in growing the Old Mutual International business and in developing and leading his team locally in the Middle East,” said Peter Kenny, managing director, Old Mutual International (OMI).
“The international advice industry is evolving, and it is more important than ever that we play a proactive role in supporting advisers, helping them build sustainable business models,” Kenny said.
“Brendan has real passion for improving customer outcomes and his collaborative leadership style will be a real asset to our business during this period of transition.”
Dolan takes over from Marcel Bradshaw, who left the company at the end of October and had been heavily involved in its drive to expand its core markets in Hong Kong, Singapore, Latin America, South Africa and the Middle East

Dolan has over 33 years’ experience in the financial services industry and has spent the last 25 years with OMI, most recently heading up the Middle East and Africa region where he reported to Bradshaw. He is well known within the IFA community as well as bancassurance and private banking sectors.
“I look forward to building on our success and growing the international business for the benefit of both advisers and customers,” Dolan said.
The company is currently seeking a replacement for Dolan’s role in the Middle East and, in the meantime, he and the existing team in the Middle East will continue to support the local advisers.
