PEOPLE MOVES: 7IM, National Friendly, Julius Baer

Head of financial planning leaves DFM, as mutual society names CEO

7IM

Head of financial planning George Martineau and financial planner Paul Gillen have left the company.

7IM said they both left to pursue other opportunities.

Martineau and Gillen were former employees of Tcam and moved to 7IM following the acquisition by the DFM in May 2018.

Gillen has since taken on the role of senior consultant at Argyle Consulting, according to his LinkedIn profile.

National Friendly

Graham Singleton has been named as chief executive of the UK-based mutual society specialising in health and protection insurance.

He currently holds non-executive directorships at STM Life Assurance, Lindon & Colonial Assurance, and Guaranteed Protection Insurance.

Julius Baer

Mirco Malgiaritta will become head of Julius Baer’s St Moritz branch, effective from 1 July 2021.

He succeeds current branch manager Rino Padrun, who decided to retire early at the end of September after seven years at the company.

Malgiaritta has been at Julius Baer since 2016 as a senior relationship manager.

Benchmark Capital

Schroders’ UK intermediary solutions director Gillian Hepburn has been named as a non-executive director at the asset manager’s subsidiary Benchmark Capital.

In a LinkedIn post, the firm said her appointment is “key in supporting our gender diversity goals and being a role model for our future female leaders”.

Hargreaves Lansdown

Penelope James will take on the role of senior independent director at Hargreaves Lansdown from 1 September 2021.

She will also join the company’s board risk committee and nomination committee.

James has been chief executive of Direct Line Insurance Group since May 2019, after joining in November 2017 as chief financial officer.

Aviva Investors

Aviva Investors has expanded its emerging market debt team in Hong Kong and Singapore with three hires.

Amy Khan has been named as senior portfolio manager, responsible for co-managing Aviva Investors emerging markets corporate bond strategy. She joins from Gam, where she served as an investment manager.

Nafez Zouk has become an emerging market sovereign analyst, a newly created role. He previously worked for Oxford Economics as an emerging market strategist.

Aleksej Gren has been promoted to emerging market corporate analyst, another newly created position, after joining the company in September 2020.

Charles Taylor

The services and technology solutions provider to the global insurance market has hired John Pickersgill as group chief commercial officer.

He joins from Axa XL where he served as head of global client management, and was previously chief commercial officer for Axa Corporate Solutions.

Multrees Investor Services

The investment services provider has appointed Elaine Clements to its board of directors.

She is currently a non-executive director and committee chair at Cambridge Investment Management.

Pareto Financial Planning

The UK-based financial planning firm has promoted Paul Stones to managing director.

He has been at the company for the last 11 years.

Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC)

The Jersey regulator has recruited Claire Bowes as a commissioner.

She will be sworn by the Royal Court on 2 July 2021 for a five-year term.

She used to work as a managing director and head of HR risk, legal and compliance at Barclays.
