PEOPLE MOVES: Abacus, Guernsey Finance, Tilney

By Robbie Lawther, 6 Mar 20

Double promotion at UAE investment solutions firm, as promotional body names CEO replacement

Abacus Financial Consultants

The UAE-based firm has promoted senior consultants Andrew Hedger and Craig Holding to partner.

Hedger has been at Abacus since November 2014, while Holding has been at the firm for one year.

This comes weeks after Graham Thornton left Abacus to join Dubai-based asset management and financial advisory business Arlo Wealth as private wealth director.

Guernsey Finance

The island’s promotional agency has named Rupert Pleasant as its chief executive.

Pleasant joins from Beauvoir Group, where he was acting group managing director.

Prior to that, he has worked Lloyds Bank, Barclays Wealth, Credit Suisse, Investec and PraxisIFM among others.

He replaces the outgoing Dominic Wheatley, who will leave the role in June.

Tilney

The UK wealth manager has hired Ross Anders as partner and financial planner.

Anders joins Tilney from Whitefoord Wealth Management, where he was a partner focusing predominantly on advising senior executives within the oil and gas sector.

Prior to this, he also worked at Citi and Dart Capital.

Sanlam UK

The wealth manager has added a portfolio manager to its Brighton team.

Lydia MacDonald joins the firm from Charles Stanley.

She has over 35 years’ experience, including a decade at Brewin Dolphin and roles at Barclays Wealth, ANZ Grindlays Private Bank and Gerrard.

Buzzacott

The accountancy firm has named Rakesh Dabasia as tax director in its private client team.

Dabasia joins Buzzacott from accountancy firm Rayner Essex, where he worked as tax director for three years, specialising in the taxation of non-UK domicile individuals and offshore trust structures.

JHC Systems (JHC)

The wealth management fintech firm has appointed Alan Cole as head of cloud and operations to deliver its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for wealth managers.

Cole previously held positions at Finastra and Temenos.
