Lombard Odier
Lombard Odier Investment Managers have announced the appointment of Jerry Devlin to lead its third party distribution team.
Devlin will replace Dominick Peasley as the firm’s head of UK third-party distribution on 3 January, leaving his role as head of distribution for Amundi which he held for more than three years.
He has also held management roles at Macquarie Group and Castlestone Management and Barings.
Tilney Bestinvest
Tilney Bestinvest has announced Will Samuel as its new chairman, replacing the outgoing Mike Covell.
Samuel is currently chairman of TSB Banking Group, which he took through IPO after the de-merger from Lloyds Bank plc.
Subject to FCA approval, he will bring over 35 years’ experience in the City to the role and has held a number of non-executive positions during this time. These include the chairmanships of Howdens Joinery Group plc, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group and HP Bulmer Holdings plc, a deputy chairmanship of Inchcape plc and a directorship of Edinburgh Investment Trust.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Samuel joined Schroders in 1977 initially in the investment management division, eventually becoming managing director of Schroders investment banking business in 1986.
Following its sale to Citigroup he was co-chief executive of Schroder Salomon Smith Barney. In 2004 he joined Lazard & Co as vice chairman and from 2011 served as senior adviser. In 2012 he was appointed as senior adviser to the Prudential Regulation Authority.
Columbia Threadneedle
Columbia Threadneedle has announced the death of Stephen Thornber, manager of the Threadneedle Global Equity Income Fund.
Thornber passed away on 28 December. He had worked with the group since Threadneedle’s inception in 1994, joining the global equities team in 2003.
His responsibilities have been assumed by senior members of the team under the leadership of William Davies.
The $2.3bn (£1.87bn, €22.2bn) Global Equity Income Fund, which Thornber had managed since June 2007, will be taken over by Jonathan Crown, deputy manager on the fund since 2011.
