PEOPLE MOVES: Benchmark, Aviva Investors, Schroders PW

Advice business announces CEO change, as asset manager names head of global wealth for UK

Benchmark Capital

The Schroders subsidiary has announced David White will step down from his role as chief executive at the end of the year.

He will transition to being a non-executive director on the Benchmark board. He will also stay connected with several strategic clients including Schroders Personal Wealth.

As a result of the changes, Ed Dymott is appointed as chief executive of Benchmark, with effect from 1 January 2024.

Over the next few months, they will continue to work closely to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities and ensure the business continues to be positioned for future growth.

Aviva Investors

The global asset management business of Aviva has hired Smera Ashraf as head of global wealth – UK.

She joins Aviva Investors from HSBC Asset Management, where she was global commercial sustainability manager.

Schroders Personal Wealth (SPW)

The advice business has appointed Alan Goodman as its chief investment officer.

Prior to joining SPW, Goodman was the director of private markets and alternatives at St James’s Place and deputy chief investment officer at Rowan Dartington.

Fundpath

The fintech firm has named Adam Harrison as chief growth officer.

He has also held senior positions with Standard Life UK as investment director for global financial institutions and with Capital Group as managing director for global financial institutions.

Loyal North

The holding and operating company of UK independent financial planning businesses has recruited Christian Captieux as the group compliance director and member of the board of directors.

Prior to joining Loyal North, Captieux worked as head of compliance for Quilter Financial Planning, and as a group compliance director for Succession Wealth.

HSBC

Tommy Leung will become head of global private banking for south Asia, effective 19 October 2023.

He brings more than two decades of private and investment banking experience at UBS, where he was most recently managing director, co-Head of global family and institutional wealth for Apac at UBS Global Wealth Management.

Franklin Templeton

Christian Leger has been named as head of distribution for Switzerland, effective 1 August 2023.

Leger joins from Nuveen, where he was managing director and head of Switzerland with a focus on institutional clients and private wealth investors.

Standard Life

The Phoenix Group subsidiary has appointed Callum Stewart as head of investment proposition distribution.

He joins Standard Life from Hyman Robertson, where he most recently held the role of head of DC investment, specialising in pension funding and investment.

Lowes Financial Management

The financial advice firm has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of its first commercial director.

Barry Hopper takes up the new role after working in various positions within Newcastle-based IFA firm for almost 20 years.

Mourant

The law firm-led professional services business has promoted Will Burnell as a partner in the firm’s Jersey based international trusts and private client team.

Burnell relocated to Jersey in June 2016 having previously worked in the BVI and England. He advises corporate, charitable and private clients from a range of jurisdictions on the creation, ongoing management and termination of BVI, Cayman and Jersey trusts and other wealth and succession planning vehicles.
