BNP Paribas Asset Management

BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointed Sandro Pierri as global head of client group, the firm’s worldwide sales and marketing organisation.

Pierri will report to Frédéric Janbon, BNPP AM’s chief executive, and will be a member of the firm’s executive committee. He will join the company in September 2017 and will be based in London.

The Italian has spent his entire career in the asset management industry. He began his career as a portfolio manager in 1989, first at San Paolo Fondi, moving to BNL Gestioni in 1992 and then joining ING Investment Management in Italy in 1994. He subsequently spent over 10 years with Pioneer Investments in a number of distribution and leadership roles.

Neuberger Berman

US investment manager Neuberger Berman is bolstering its China equity team with the hire of portfolio manager Bin Yu from CloudRidge Capital, an investment management firm he founded in 2014.

Yu brings with him a team of four research analysts which will continue to manage their current strategy as a private fund with offerings to expand based on Neuberger Berman clients’ needs. The team is located in Hong Kong and Beijing.

Prior to CloudRidge, Yu spent more than five years with the China Investment Corporation, where he was head of the $10bn global equity team and a senior portfolio manager co-managing three multi-billion portfolios: equity long short, long-only global equity and equity special situations.

BlueMountain Capital

Alternative asset manager BlueMountain Capital announced it has hired Claudio Macchetto as head of platform distribution.

Macchetto will be responsible for the marketing of the firm’s diversified alternative investment strategies to wealth management channels and private banking platforms, as well as the management of retail distribution relationships globally.

Previously he was the head of global platforms at Paulson & Co.

Tacit Investment Management

Tacit Investment Management has hired Leigh Stephens to strengthen relationships within its growing adviser business, the company announced.

Stephens, who has thirty years’ experience in wealth management, with senior roles at Saunderson House, Close Brothers and Deutsche Bank, will take the role of head of strategic relationships.

LGT Vestra

Private banking and asset management group LGT Vestra has announced the appointment of Adam Brownlee to the newly created role of Senior Wealth Manager.

“Brownlee brings with him significant experience in advising high-net-worth and ultra high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals from some of the largest UK and international corporates, financial market professionals and entrepreneurs”, the company said in a statement.

With over 18 years experience in wealth management, Brownlee started his career at Barclays Private Clients before moving to Drummonds and then to Credit Suisse Private Banking in London. Most recently he was a director at HSBC Private Bank.

Fiduciary Trust

Global wealth manager Fiduciary Trust, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton Investments, announced that Paulina Mejia has joined the firm as regional managing director, head of its New York office. Her responsibilities will include overseeing the company’s private wealth business in the Greater New York region.

Mejia joins Fiduciary Trust with more than 15 years of experience working with wealthy clients on complex trust and estate matters. Most recently, she served as the head of Atlantic Trust’s Wealth Strategies Group and as senior wealth strategist in the firm’s New York office.
