CEO change at UK wealth firm, while international platform makes C-suite promotion

Brewin Dolphin

The wealth manager has announced chief executive David Nicol will retire after eight years with the group.

He will step down on 14 June 2020 and remain with the firm for a transitionary period until 29 July 2020.

Robin Beer will be Nicol’s successor. Beer is currently responsible for Brewin Dolphin’s intermediaries, charity, professional services and digital businesses.

He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with prior roles at National Australia Bank, Gerrard and Barclays.

Praemium

Mark Sanderson has been promoted to chief operating officer of the Australia-headquartered platform.

He was previously general manager of UK and international.

Sanderson will lead a global team of professionals across all business functions in the UK, Jersey, Dubai and Hong Kong.

BMO Global Asset Management

The investment manager has named Nora O’Mahony as head of product in Emea.

O’Mahony, who will be based in London, joins from Fidante Partners, where she was head of product development.

Prudential

Shriti Vadera will join its board as a non-executive director and a member of its nomination and governance committee on 1 May 2020.

She is expected to succeed Paul Manduca as chair of the board and of its nomination and governance committee on 1 January 2021.

Vadera will step down from her roles as chair of Santander UK and senior independent director of international mining company BHP Group before joining the Prudential board.

Manduca joined Prudential’s board in 2010 and became chairman in 2012.

Jersey Finance

The island’s promotional body has named Allan Wood as global head of business development.

He joined Jersey Finance in 2015 as business development director, before being promoted to regional head of west, where he was responsible for overseeing the Africa, US and UK markets.

Allan will maintain responsibility for Jersey Finance’s South Africa activity, as well as Africa activity through London.

Faizal Bhana, who was appointed director of Middle East and Africa last year, will take on more responsibility for the wider Africa market; including activity in Kenya and Nigeria.

Kames Capital

The investment firm has strengthened its UK wholesale distribution team with the appointment of Alex Beck as business development manager.

Based in the firm’s London office, Beck will cover accounts in the southeast of England, spanning the company’s client base of wealth managers, financial advisers, fund-of-funds, family offices, fund platforms and banks.

He joins Kames from Oxford Capital, where he was a senior manager.

James Hambro & Partners

The wealth firm has recruited investment managers Aidan Butler and Ed Marsden from Aberdeen Standard Capital.

The duo will set up an office in Leeds – the first regional operation for JH&P.

Butler will take charge of the office when he joins next month, while Marsden has already started.

Administration and support staff are expected to be hired soon.

The online investment provider has named Alex Rees as head of digital.

Rees joins Willis Owen from BNP Paribas, where he was online marketing manager.
