By Kirsten Hastings, 24 May 16

On what has been a very trying day for Switzerland-headquartered BSI Bank, the company’s chief executive has stepped down with immediate effect. BlackRock has poached its new senior managing director from a Canadian pension fund, while Aegon’s managing director for retail is to retire after 30 years with the company.

The global asset management business of Aviva has appointed Carl Tomlin to its UK wholesale team as business development director. In this new role, Tomlin will be responsible for relationships with key intermediaries across southwest England.

He joins Aviva Investors from Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where he was a regional manager, responsible for relationships with IFAs and discretionary fund managers in southwest England.

Manulife

Manulife Indonesia has appointed Indren S. Naidoo as its new chief executive, effective 11 May 2016. Based in Jakarta, Naidoo will be responsible for leading the business as it looks to tap into the rapidly growing middle class.

In his previous role with Manulife, Naidoo was regional chief executive for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, a role he has held since 2013.

Ardan International

The international wealth platform has named Andy Tinnion as head of business development. He will be based on the Isle of Man.

Previously at Friends Provident International, where he managed discretionary client accounts for seven years, having then held the position of regional sales development manager (Middle East) for eight years.

Architas

Jonathan Arthur and Marcelle Williams have joined Architas’s distribution and marketing teams, respectively.

Arthur joins the UK distribution team from Fidelity where he was an equity product specialist on global and US funds. In his new role as fund product specialist, he will work in tandem with advisers to communicate Architas’ offering of risk profiled, income producing and specialist funds. He will also be involved with the impending launch of the managed portfolio service.

Williams will concentrate on assisting the Architas marketing team with the upcoming managed portfolio service launch. She joins from BlackRock.

Thai Institute of Directors

Peter Emblin, corporate solutions advisor for MBMG Group, has been named the 45th chartered director of the Thai Institute of Directors (IoD). Having moved to Thailand in 1992, Emblin is only the fifth non-Thai national to be appointed to the post.
