By Robbie Lawther, 20 Jan 22

CEO steps down from professional body, as wealth manager makes c-suite change

Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)

Simon Culhane will step down as chief executive of the professional body in September 2022.

He was appointed as chief executive in May 2004 to the Securities Institute, which then had a total of 65 staff, all UK-based.

The CISI board has begun the search process to recruit the next chief executive.

Charles Stanley

The UK wealth manager has hired Patrick Farrell as head of research and chief investment officer.

He was chief investment officer for the Suncorp Group, the largest general insurance group in Australia, as well as BT Financial Group, the wealth and asset management arm of Westpac.

Lombard Odier

Stephane Herrmann has taken over as chief executive of the wealth manager’s Europe operation.

He succeeds Henry Fischel-Bock, who had expressed his wish to retire at the end of 2021.

Herrmann joined Lombard Odier (Europe) in 2019 as chief operating officer and deputy chief executive.

Elsewhere, Lombard Odier has appointed Manuela Maccia as head of product offering Europe and senior portfolio manager for Italy.

Maccia was recently director of financial products and services for the wealth management of BNP Paribas in France.

Kingswood

The international group has named Hayley Burton as managing director, head of wealth planning for Midlands and south.

She joins Kingswood from Santander Wealth, where she held the role of area manager, financial planning.

AJ Bell

Rachel Vahey has been appointed head of policy development at the investment platform.

She was previously senior technical consultant at AJ Bell, having joined the business in 2019. Prior to AJ Bell, she worked at Nucleus and Aegon.

Causeway Securities

The structured product provider has bolstered its team with two hires.

Andrej Ogorevc has been appointed chief investment officer.

He joins from Quilter, where he worked as head of investment proposition and head of structured products.

Also, Josh Clancey joins as global head of fund sales.

He joins from Praemium International and was formerly at Friends Provident International.

Sanlam Investments UK

Chris Rodgers has been appointed to the newly created role of head of investment and risk.

He will step back from his portfolio management responsibilities, having worked for many years as a senior fund manager, most recently as head of UK equities at Sanlam Investments.

Quilter Cheviot

The investment arm of Quilter has strengthened its fund research team with the hire of Ghazanfar Saleem as a fund research analyst.

He previously worked as a senior analyst at hedge fund consultant Amber Partners, and within the alternative investments team at Deloitte.

PineBridge Investments

The global asset manager has hired Nicolas Kopitsis as head of wealth management for Asia.

Kopitsis was most recently as head of intermediary distribution Asia ex-Japan for BNY Mellon in Singapore.

One Four Nine Group

The group’s in-house discretionary fund management proposition has appointed Jasper Berens to the board as an independent non-executive director.

He currently serves as head of client relationships and distribution at the UK charity investment manager CCLA.

Blackfinch Investments

The Gloucester-based investment specialist has named Mark Brownridge as strategic relationship director.

He was most recently as director general of the EIS Association (EISA), the official trade body of the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS).
