Globaleye’s managing director has departed with immediate effect, as St James’s Place is to lose its chief executive of 11 years at the end of 2017. Indosuez Wealth Management has bolstered its Midde East team with two appointments.

Globaleye

Scott Balsdon, managing director of Globaleye, is leaving after nine years with immediate effect, as part of the firm’s ongoing restructure, International Adviser has learned exclusively.

Based in Dubai, Balsdon joined as a wealth manager in March 2008 from deVere and Partners. In October 2008, he was promoted to vice president – wealth management, before becoming senior vice president two years later. Balsdon has been managing director since April 2012.

St James’s Place

St James’s Place chief executive David Bellamy is to step down at the end of 2017 after 11 years in the top job and 26 years with the firm. Chief financial officer Andrew Croft is poised to succeed Bellamy, with chief risk officer Craig Gentle stepping into Croft’s role.

Bellamy, whose firm posted a loss of £13m ($16m, €15m) in Asia on Tuesday, said: “This will be as smooth a baton-passing as you can imagine, and the strategic direction of this company and the commitment that it has to relationship-based advice will remain unchanged.”

No specific reason was given for Bellamy’s decision to step down.

Indosuez Wealth Management

Indosuez, the global wealth management division of Crédit Agricole Group, has appointed Nancy Sebaali and Rolf Schilde as Middle East team leaders in Dubai and Geneva, respectively. Both will join the Middle East management committee and report to global head of the Middle East region François Farjallah.

Prior to joining Indosuez, Sebaali was with Société Générale Group for 11 years in various senior positions, including global coordinator for the Middle East private banking division.

Before moving to Indosuez, Schilde spent 31 years at UBS in various senior Middle East banking roles, including head of wealth management at the Dubai International Finance Centre, and as head of Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Lebanon’s representative offices.

Franklin Templeton

Franklin Templeton has promoted Sandeep Singh to senior director and regional head, Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA), effective 25 January 2017.

Singh, who joined the firm in 1998, will be based in Dubai reporting to Vivek Kudva, managing director, EMEA and India. Singh will oversee the leadership and development of the retail and institutional distribution efforts across the CEEMEA region. In addition, he will continue his existing responsibilities as head of the firm’s growing Islamic business.

Investec Asset Management

Investec Asset Management has expanded its team with the hire of Michelle Trilli as sales director responsible for the firm’s mutual fund business in the north-eastern United States and Canada. The appointment supports Investec Asset Management’s adviser-facing business as its international footprint and global client base continues to expand.

Bringing a decade of experience in managing relationships with financial advisors, Trilli joins from Pioneer Investments, where she was vice president for the US offshore – north-east & Canada region.

Schroders

Chris Paine has joined Schroders’ multi-asset investments team from Henderson Global Investors. He will become a fund manager on the global income portfolio management team.

Paine brings with him over 20 years’ investment experience and will report to Aymeric Forest, head of global income, multi-asset investments. Prior to joining Schroders, he spent over a decade at Henderson, joining in 2000 as a quantitative analyst on its economic strategy team.

Barclays UK

Sir Ian Cheshire has been appointed as a non-executive director of Barclays with effect from 3 April 2017. He is also chairman designate of Barclays’ ring-fenced bank, Barclays UK, which is in the process of being established.

Barclays UK comprises the UK retail banking, business banking, consumer credit card and wealth management businesses.
