By Robbie Lawther, 3 May 19

CEO and founder leaves UK investment manager and DFM bolsters operation with four hires

Hawksmoor Investment Management

The founder and chief executive of the UK-based firm, John Crowley, will step down from his executive responsibilities.

Sarah Soar will join as chief executive, once she finishes her current contractual requirements as head of investment management at JM Finn.

Crowley will continue as a director of the company.

Santander

The bank’s UK business named Ben Covey as head of private banking.

Covey reports to Charlotte Platts, head of wealth.

He was most recently divisional manager for south west and central England (which also included south Wales) at Santander Private Banking.

Prior to joining the bank, Covey spent over a decade at Barclays Wealth supporting private clients, charities and pension funds.

Quilter Cheviot

Quilter’s discretionary fund management (DFM) business has hired four investment managers.

In London, Richard Wayne-Wynne has joined from Brooks Macdonald, where he was an investment director.

Nick Lamb, who was previously head of office for WH Ireland in Bristol, has joined Quilter Cheviot’s Bristol office.

Martin Andrews has joined the Leicester office from GHC Capital Markets, where he was previously a private client investment manager.

The firm’s Salisbury office has appointed Daniel Schieber from Charles Stanley, where he worked as an investment manager.

Smith and Williamson International

Matthew Wilson has been named as a director for the Jersey investment management team.

Wilson will be responsible for providing investment advice and management services to international and Jersey high net worth families.

He has spent 20 years working in the private banking and wealth management industry, including senior positions in London, Zurich and the Channel Islands.

JTC

The private wealth company has named Michael Halsey as managing director in the Cayman Islands after being granted a trust licence in the offshore country.

Halsey joins JTC with more than two decades of experience in the international financial services industry.

Most recently, he was managing director of Sackville Bank & Trust Company in the Cayman Islands and, before that, he was director of trust and investment services at CIBC Wealth Management.

He is looking to bolster the firm’s operation in the Cayman Islands.

Brown Shipley

The UK wealth firm has appointed Cyrique Bourbon as asset allocation strategist in its London office.

He joins as a senior member of the company’s investment operation, where he will be responsible for leading the asset allocation process.

Bourbon joins Brown Shipley from Morningstar Investment Management Europe.

Aegon Asset Management

Brunno Maradei joins as global head of environment, social and governance, based in The Hague, the Netherlands; while Julius Huttunen has become responsible investment manager, based in Chicago, US.

Both will report to Roelie van Wijk-Russchen, global head of responsible business and public affairs.

Maradei joins from the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, where he was a senior investment officer.

Huttunen was previously an ESG research analyst at Calvert Research & Management based in Washington DC.
