By Cristian Angeloni, 21 Sep 21

Wealth firm names managing director of Italian private banking, as insurer makes c-suite changes

Lombard Odier

Alberica Brivio Sforza has taken on the role of managing director for private banking in Italy, based in Milan.

She takes over from Giorgio Riccucci, who has taken up a “new professional challenge” after nearly four years in the job, Lombard Odier said.

Brivio Sforza joins from JP Morgan Chase Bank, where she served as a manging director in Milan for over five years.

Aviva

The UK insurer has made some changes to its c-suite.

Andrea Montague and John Cummings have been promoted to chief risk officer and chief information officer, respectively.

Montague joined Aviva in April 2020 as group chief financial controller; while Cummings was already group chief information officer as well as chief investment officer for Aviva UK’s general insurance business.

Both promotions are subject to regulatory approval.

Marlborough Fund Managers

Alastair Caw joins Marlborough as head of client solutions.

He spent the last 14 years at Columbia Threadneedle where, most recently, he was head of UK wholesale.

He will be responsible for relationships with wealth managers, multi-manager firms, family offices, and platform fund research teams.

Mattioli Woods

The non-executive chairman of the UK wealth manager, Joanne Lake, is stepping down at the firm’s forthcoming annual general meeting in October.

She served as an independent non-executive director for nine years, including five as chairman.

The nominations committee has started looking for a successor.

PGIM Investments

The investment firm has hired Robert Hall as head of UK wholesale, effective immediately.

He will be based on London and will be responsible for maintaining and building relationships with UK intermediaries and the wholesale channels.

Hall previously spent over a decade at Natixis Investment Managers, where he was most recently director of UK wholesale leading on the London and South African markets.

Tilney Smith & Williamson

Charlotte Fairhurst has become a business development director at Tilney Smith & Williamson.

She will be responsible for the growth of professional connections with solicitors and accountants in London and the south east.

Fairhurst joins from Octopus Investments, where she worked as a strategic partnership manager for the last four years.

Alderwood Capital

The London-based fund management firm has recruited Cathy Jones as a partner and a member of its investment committee.

She previously held a similar role at Northill Capital.

Crux

The active equity investment manager has named Damian Taylor as deputy lead for its two latest Asia equity strategies.

He joins from Martin Currie, where he was portfolio manager for the firm’s Asia Long-Term Unconstrained strategy since 2013.

Taylor will be based in Crux’s newly opened Edinburgh office.

WH Ireland

The wealth manager has hired Tom Wood as a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee.

Wood was chief restructuring and financial officer of The Co-operative Bank between 2017 and 2019.

Prestfield Wealth Management UK

Anthony Buckley has joined the Manchester-based St James’s Place partner practice as a senior wealth adviser.

He spent the last eight months as a financial adviser at Compass Financial and, prior to that, more than two years at Aviva in a similar position.
