Old Mutual

Old Mutual Wealth has named Glyn Jones as the independent non-executive chairman to the insurer’s board of directors.

He will replace Bruce Hemphill, chief executive of Old Mutual, who will continue to be a director of the board.

The insurance giant said Jones will be working closely with Hemphill as the company’s separates its business into four units following an announcement earlier this year.

Glyn is presently the chairman of Aspen Insurance Holdings as well as the chairman of Aldermore Group, a bank that went public in 2015 on the London Stock Exchange.

Having started his career with Deloitte, Glyn joined Standard Chartered Bank in 1991, where he ran their international private banking business headquartered in Hong Kong. He has also previously worked as chief executive of the Coutts Group as well as the head of Gartmore Investment Management where he worked until 2004.

Manulife

Manulife Asset Management, the investment management arm of Manulife, has hired Neil Summers to take up the newly-created role as head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) client service and sales support.

Manulife AM said Summers role was created as part of its expansion into the EMEA region.

With 20 years of asset management experience under his belt, Summer has previous worked for Deutsche Asset Management.

He joined the Manulife AM on 19 September from Aberdeen Asset Management, where he spent twelve years, most recently as head of client service for EMEA.

Summer will be responsible for building a team to service institutional and wholesale clients across the EMEA region.

He will be based in London, reporting to the firm’s head of global distribution services, Lauren Fleming.

HSBC in Switzerland has made a round of hires in Geneva, Zurich and Dubai.

The bank confirmed that Sandip Aggarwal has been appointed head of the investment counsellor team in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), where HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) SA opened a branch office last year.

Christopher Matthey has been appointed as head of discretionary portfolio management for Switzerland from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, based in Geneva.

Elisabeth Istanboulli has been hired from UBS Wealth Management to work as an alternative investment specialist in Zurich, while Aster Eddo has been named to oversee investor relations for the alternative investments team in Switzerland.
