NN IP chooses its lead portfolio manager of emerging market debt, Investec hires its UK institutional sales director from Goldman Sachs and Heartwood makes a raft appointments to its investment team.

Investec

Investec Asset Management has appointed Alastair Leather as UK institutional sales director, reporting to Edward Evers, head of global consultants. Leather joins the UK institutional team led by David Aird, managing director of the UK client group.

Leather’s mandate centres on building Investec’s 20 year presence in the UK by significantly growing the firm’s relationships with global consultants and furthering its dialogue with UK institutional clients.

He previously served for a decade at Goldman Sachs Asset Management where he was most recently vice president of institutional sales, and a member of the strategic client group responsible for developing relationships with UK pension schemes.

Prior to this, he held roles at Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking as an associate and lead specialist within the credit team.

NN IP

NN Investment Partners (NN IP) has appointed Lewis Jones as lead portfolio manager of emerging market debt (EMD) and local currency strategies.

In this capacity, Jones will be responsible for the day-to-day portfolio management activities of all EMD local currency portfolios. Jones is based in New York and will continue to report to Marcelo Assalin who is head of the EMD boutique of NN IP.

Jones joined NN IP in August 2016 as senior portfolio manager EMD local currency based in New York. He has 13 years of relevant experience in EMD.

He joined NN IP from the EMD department of BNP Paribas Investment Partners and Fischer Francis Trees & Watts, based in Boston, where he was a Portfolio Manager for EMD. Furthermore, he has previous work experience with State Street Global Advisors and Aviva Investors in London and Boston.

Heartwood

Heartwood Investment Management, the asset management arm of Handelsbanken in the UK, has announced three new appointments.

Siobhan Pandya has joined as head of investment communications. Pandya is responsible for developing and implementing the content and marketing strategy for Heartwood.

She has extensive experience of generating and managing cross-asset content, having previously spent seven years at M&G Investments, most recently as head of equities market content. She has also held roles at Henderson Global Investors, Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan.

Alistair Campbell and Nikki Howes have joined as investment associates. Campbell’s primary area of research is alternatives and he is assisting Charu Lahiri in the management of the Heartwood alternatives fund.

Prior to joining Heartwood, he worked as a portfolio manager at Sarasin & Partners where he focussed on liquid hedge fund strategies. He began his career in investment management in 2013 as an analyst at Societe Generale Private Bank.

Howes is working with Michael Stanes on the management of the growth investment strategy, while her primary area of research is equities. Before joining Heartwood, she worked in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan and began her career at UBS in London.
