PEOPLE MOVES: The Fry Group, Royal London AM, Schroders

By Cristian Angeloni, 26 Mar 19

Two hires move from London to Hong Kong to join the global financial adviser

The Fry Group

It’s a double hire for the Hong Kong business of the global financial advisory firm.

Anna Warren has been named head of tax for the Asian region. She will be joining The Fry Group in April 2019.

Warren started her career at KPMG in the Channel Islands and then moved to London in 2012. She is also a chartered tax adviser and chartered accountant.

Additionally, Charlie Buxton is set to join the group as a portfolio manager. He joined from Hurley partners in London where he served as an investment manager.

Royal London Asset Management

Phil Davey has been appointed relationship manager for London discretionary sales, in a move to expand the asset manager’s wholesale team.

He joins from JP Morgan Asset Management, where he spent three years as a relationship manager for the London and Channel Islands markets.

Schroders Personal Wealth

The joint venture between Lloyds Banking Group and investment house Schroders has unveiled the leadership team that will helm the business when it is launched later this year.

  • Chief executive – James Rainbow
  • Chief operating officer – Nick Allen
  • Chief investment officer – Marcus Brookes
  • Chief marketing officer – James Cardew
  • Head of HR – Marietta Connery
  • Managing director, client relationships and wealth advice – Sarah Deaves
  • Chief risk officer – Barrie Jackson
  • Chief commercial officer – David Lawrence
  • Chief internal auditor – Colin Newham
  • Chief financial officer – Joel Ripley

The team will drive the design of Schroders Personal Wealth, which will offer a personalised financial planning service backed by Lloyds Banking Group’s experienced adviser teams and understanding of customer financial life-cycles, Schroders’ investment expertise and Benchmark Capital’s technology.

It will launch in June 2019 (subject to regulatory approval).

Equilibrium Asset Management

John Ashcroft joins the asset manager as a consultant. His role is to advise the UK firm on global macro-economics and portfolio investment allocations.

In addition, he will also develop positional papers on investment, finance and economics.

Ashcroft has previously worked for Goldman Sachs, Bain and Company, First Boston and SG Warburgs.

Succession Wealth

Succession has named Susan Puddephatt its chief risk officer, leading up to the senior manager and certification regime – the stricter accountability standards for senior employees to be rolled out in the UK in December 2019.

She will be leading the development of the group’s risk management strategy, as well as compliance and internal audit teams.

She joins from Tilney where she was a risk officer.

True Bearing

The UK-based chartered financial planner firm has hired six financial advisers to join its team as part of its growth strategy.

Paul Hoyle, Emma Craig, Ian Richards, David Adetona, Neil Wilson and Kristin Oakley will all be focusing on clients living in different areas of the north-west of England.
