Quilter Investors rolls out two income portfolios

By Kirsten Hastings, 26 Jun 19

Founder share class available on Old Mutual Wealth and OMI platforms for six months

Investors looking for regular income have two more products to consider after Quilter Investors announced the launch of two portfolios; one monthly income and one monthly income & growth.

The two globally diversified portfolios will distribute income payment monthly.

A “smoothing mechanism” will be applied to the payment to provide clients with increased certainty over the expected level of regular income, the firm said.

Both will be available in accumulation and income share classes.

For those getting in early, there is a so-called founder share class available for six months on Quilter’s Old Mutual Wealth and Old Mutual International (OMI) platforms.

The fixed ongoing charge (FOC) for those investors will be 0.6%.

A spokesperson confirmed to International Adviser that the FOC will be 0.85% for investors joining after the initial six months.

There is no minimum investment level, and the portfolios will be available via OMI’s portfolio bond and select bond.

Search for income

Portfolio manager Helen Bradshaw will actively manage the portfolios using a range of instruments; including active managers, passive strategies, smart beta, investment trusts and alternatives funds.

She said: “The search for income continues to be a challenge for investors and while the UK’s domestic index currently offers an attractive dividend yield, it is highly dependent on a relatively narrow range of stocks.

“Elsewhere, many markets are experiencing depressed equity dividends, and fixed income markets no longer deliver the kind of reliable returns they once offered.

“That makes the search for stable yields an intricate challenge and it is really important to me that we explore a broad investment universe that encompasses a variety of global regions and asset classes.”

Quilter Investors’ chief commercial officer, Dean Bowden, said the portfolios had been designed with input from the adviser community.
