Rathbones AM hires trio for move into Asia ex-Japan, global EM strategies

By Mark Battersby, 3 Mar 25

The fund managers will be based in London and report to Tom Carroll, chief executive of RAM

Rathbones Asset Management (RAM) has appointed three fund managers, as it moves into Asia ex-Japan and global emerging markets strategies for the first time.

The fund managers will be based in London and report to Tom Carroll, chief executive of RAM.

Lisa Lim (pictured above) joins as head of Asia ex-Japan equities and fund manager. Tim Love is appointed head of global emerging market equities and fund manager, and Joaquim Nogueira as global emerging markets fund manager.

Lim joins from Prusik Investment Management where she was a partner and portfolio manager, and was instrumental in setting up and leading its sustainable investing capabilities.

Prior to this she was a fund manager at Columbia Threadneedle for over a decade and also led several Asia equities institutional portfolios.

She serves as a board trustee and on the investment committee of Foundation Scotland, and is an INED of Sime Darby Properties.

As head of global emerging market equities, Tim Love (pictured below) will be responsible for overseeing the global emerging market equity strategies at RAM.

He has almost 40 years of investment experience. Before RAM he was Investment Director at GAM, in a similar role, for 12 years. He has also worked as senior portfolio manager, managing long/short emerging market equities at CQS, and senior portfolio manager and director at Cazenove Capital Management.

Earlier in his career he ran portfolios at BlackRock (formerly Merrill Lynch Investment Managers) and HSBC Asset Management (Hong Kong and New York), after which he became managing director/head of EM research & strategy of major sell-side positions. He is also a Chartered AI analyst.

Love arrives at RAM with Joaquim Nogueira (pictured below), with whom he has worked for over 20 years. Nogueira was an investment manager in GAM’s emerging market equity team from 2012 to 2024.

Before GAM he also worked at CQS and Cazenove Capital Management, managing long/short emerging market equities. Prior to this he held senior emerging market research positions on the sell-side, having begun his career at ING Barings.

Carroll said: “We are very pleased to welcome individuals of Lisa, Tim and Joaquim’s experience to Rathbones Asset Management. For the first time in our history, we are introducing specialist fund management expertise to invest in Asia-ex Japan and global emerging market equities.

“It is our intention to launch new funds subject to regulatory approval, to complement our existing range. As part of our five-year growth strategy, we continue to actively seek opportunities to add to our existing investment talent and broaden our product suite.”
