Rathbones shuts Aberdeen office

By Cristian Angeloni, 30 Nov 21

But moves wealth team to Glasgow

Rathbones Investment Management has revamped its Scotland operation as it unveiled an office in Edinburgh.

This coincides with the firm’s plans to redeploy its Aberdeen-based team, following the retirement of regional director Meera Dennis, who will be leaving in June 2022 after 35 years in the industry.

The team will be based in Glasgow, instead, with the option to work remotely.

Clients will not suffer from the relocation, Rathbones said, as it will continue to serve them from its other Scottish offices.

Angus Kerr, Rathbones’ head of Scotland, said: “I am very pleased to announce our new premises in Edinburgh, which promise to offer clients and employees the best possible working environment as we come back together over the coming months. This underlines our commitment to Scotland, and we look forward to a bright future in our new home in the heart of the city.

“We are continually reviewing our footprint to ensure it meets our needs while enabling us to continue delivering clients the best possible service. While we will be sorry to close the doors of our Aberdeen office, we remain totally committed to our clients and employees in Scotland and our new location in Edinburgh is an exciting step forward in our journey.

“I would also like to take this early opportunity to recognise Meera’s significant contribution to Rathbones over the past decade. She will be greatly missed, and we wish her all the best for her retirement. The fact that our remaining Aberdeen team will remain intact and that our clients will continue to receive the same exacting standards of personal service, while benefiting from the wider resources of Rathbones, fills me with great confidence for the future.

“I am confident that all our clients will be very well served from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and that we will continue to grow our important and highly valued client base in the Highlands and the rest of Scotland.”
