St James’s Place joins UK intermediary firms to improve protection market for consumers

The Protection Distributors Group (PDG) has expanded its membership to include St James’s Place and Cheshire-based insurer Essential Insurance.

Set up in 2016, it consists of distributor firms and works to lobby insurers for better outcomes for consumers, via “a formal and structured distribution voice for the protection industry”, according to its website.

The 10 founding members of the group are: Assured Futures, Cura, Drewberry, Futureproof, Highclere, LifeSearch, Lightblue, London & Country, Cavendish Ware and Roxburgh.

Tony Müdd, divisional director – development and technical consultancy at SJP, said: “We are pleased to be joining the Protection Distributors Group as it is an organisation that is committed to creating positive change in the protection market.

“By joining the PDG, we can work with other companies in the financial services industry to make a real difference to people’s lives.”

Rob White, director as Essential Insurance, added: “We have eagerly watched the PDG drive many new initiatives and we are enthusiastic to be part of a progressive group that has shown it can influence and drive real change within the industry.”
