state street launches euro stoxx etf product

Tapping into the low volatility trend, State Street is offering an ETF tracking the Euro Stoxx Low Risk Weighted 100 Index.

The SPDR Euro Stoxx Low Volatility UCITS ETF has been listed on the Deutsche Bourse, Xetra today.

According to the company, low volatility has become one of the most followed advanced beta strategies, and stocks with lower volatility tend to produce greater risk adjusted returns over time.  Investors seeking access less risky and less volatile segments of the equity markets are able to use alternatively weighted indices.

Other products in its low volatility ETF range includes the SPDR S&P 500 Low Volatility UCITS ETF.

“Lower volatility equity investing appeals to those who are less concerned about short-term tracking error relative to the broad market and more focused on lower risk and drawdown characteristics,” Eleanor Hope-Bell, head of ETFs UK, said.

Last month, State Street expanded its range of short-maturity bond funds, with an ETF product which tracks the Barclays 0-5 Year Sterling Corporate Bond Index.
