Swiss cantons are looking to reduce their attraction to foreign entrepreneurs, the Telegraph reports

The story notes that Thurgau, one such ‘canton’– as these Swiss districts are known – is voting today on whether to continue with its low-tax treatment.

“Another five cantons are set to hold similar referendums over the next few months,” the Sunday Telegraph adds.

“La Gauche, Switzerland’s left-wing party, has started a petition to abolish tax deals for rich foreigners across the whole country. The centre-left Social Democrats and the Green party have also come out in favour of abolition.”

The change in the mood in Switzerland has already begun to see some exiles returning, the paper reports, noting that Frederic Denjoy, a former trader in Brevan Howard’s Geneva office, has set up a new hedge fund in Mayfair.
