UK advice company buys financial planning business

By Robbie Lawther, 2 Mar 23

Managing director of acquired firm will move into a relationship management role

Craven Street Wealth (CSW), part of corporate finance business Craven Street Capital, has purchased London-based financial planning firm Bernard Barrett Associates for an undisclosed sum.

Bernard Barrett Associates have over 40 years’ experience in the financial planning industry.

Following the deal, all staff will continue within the business, with director and financial planner Stuart Bates joining Craven Street Wealth’s management team, while managing director Bernard Barrett will over time phase into a relationship management capacity.

Tom Barnett, CSW managing director, said: “From our early interactions with Bernard and Stuart I was sure that the team and their approach to client care would fit naturally into the culture at Craven Street Wealth and therefore whilst representing a change for all, I am confident the future will also hold a high level of continuity of these core values.

“For Bernard, who has developed the business over most of his long career in financial services, I am pleased that after much deliberation he has entrusted the business on to us and will continue to provide his support. Stuart will also be joining the management team in Craven Street Wealth and contribute his knowledge and experience directly to the continued growth of the group”.

CSW was formed by Craven Street Capital in 2021 following the joint acquisition of Canterbury-based Kreston Reeves Financial Planning and London-based Christchurch Investment Management for an undisclosed sum.
