University of Derby to offer CISI qualifications

By Robbie Lawther, 22 Nov 18

The programme will also feature a global online learning course alongside accredited courses

The global professional body Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) has partnered with The University of Derby to offer students CISI qualifications alongside a global online learning course.

The University of Derby-CISI programme offers students the opportunity to study for a CISI professional qualification, before finishing their degree.

This will offer students the “opportunity to further reinforce their professional skills”, ensuring that they “stand out from the crowd in a competitive recruitment market place”.

Kevin Moore, CISI global business development director, said: “This is our very first online global learning partnership and we are delighted that we have teamed up with the University of Derby for this.

“It is exactly the support the students need to gain a competitive edge for their careers in our exciting global financial services profession.

“We are unified in our commitment to enhancing employability, by equipping the next generation of talented graduates for work in the ever evolving, fast paced world of financial services”

Details of programme

The University will be providing sponsorship for students to study for the CISI Level 3 Introduction to Investment or the equivalent International version. The University online courses which have been accredited by the CISI to offer this qualification are:

• BA (Hons) Management Accounting (top up);
• BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance (top up); and
• MSc Finance.

Derby University will also be funding scholarships for the following two campus taught programmes: BSc (Hons) Finance and BSc (Hons) Economics and Finance.

CISI student membership is also part of this deal for graduates who will be able to access CISI’s professional development (CPD) platform featuring 120 professional development e-learning modules.

Matt Bromley, academic manager of University of Derby online learning, said: “We are very pleased to be working with CISI on this partnership, to ensure that our graduates have the opportunity to gain professional status in the field of finance, accounting and banking.

“This will have a great impact on our student community and expose our learners to the wider professional network.”

CISI is the professional body for securities, investment, wealth and financial planning professionals and has a global membership of around 45,000 members in 104 countries.

Last year more than 40,000 CISI exams were sat in 80 countries, 15,000 taken outside the UK.
