Three US equity funds to look out for

By International Adviser, 19 Mar 15

The US was again the standout market in terms of performance in 2014, registering a third straight year of double-digit gains.

After Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen dropped the word ‘patient’ from her rhetoric at the March FOMC meeting and renewed the emphasis on data dependency in deciding in next interest rate move, the market has pushed back expectations of a rate hike giving U.S. equities a boost.

The S&P 500 index had risen 13% in dollar terms last year, materially outperforming all other global markets, including Europe, Japan and emerging markets and so far this year has added around 1.4%

Lena Tsymbaluk, manager research analyst, Morningstar, has highlighted three funds where investors can gain exposure to this market which is likely to remain a large and important part of most investors’ equity exposure throughout 2015.
