US in the news: Wealth firm hires ex-govt official

A round-up of the latest people moves and M&A deals in North America

People moves

Tiedemann Advisors

The US wealth firm has named Robert Hormats as a managing director.

Hormats, with more than 50 years of experience as an international policy and business leader, has served five US presidential administrations.

He served as Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs for four years during president Barack Obama’s reign.

In between his time in government, Hormats spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs, rising to the level of vice chairman of Goldman Sachs (International).

Virginia Commonwealth Bank (VCB)

Lisa Streat has joined VCB as senior vice president, private client adviser to spearhead its newly established private banking.

Prior to VCB, she was a senior vice president, private client adviser at First Tennessee/Capital Bank in Virginia and held a similar role at SunTrust Bank.

Bryn Mawr Trust (BMT)

The wealth business has named Michael Williams as vice president, commercial relationship manager.

Williams is based in BMT’s Hershey, Pennsylvania office.

He has over 10 years’ experience and was most recently, he was a business banking relationship manager for M&T Bank in York County, Pennsylvania.

Raymond James Financial Services

The independent broker/dealer has hired financial advisers Chris Messick, David Peacock, Alex Taylor, and Matt Sibley to become part of its operation in Dallas, Texas.

The team operates as Messick Peacock & Associates and joins from Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, where they previously managed approximately $640m (£512m, €576m) in client assets.

They are joined by chief operating officer Lynda Roman, marketing manager Whitney Goellner, senior client services manager Caleb Lamb, client services manager Marlon Medrano and executive assistant Marsha Hale.
