Wealth management firm completes first deal of 2019

By Robbie Lawther, 13 May 19

It may make two more deals before the end of the year which could tip AUM over £1bn

UK wealth manager Courtiers has acquired a Dorset-based advice firm Snowdon Financial for an undisclosed fee.

As a result the company will increase its assets under management to £800m ($1.04bn, €927m) when the deal is completed.

Founder Andrew Snowdon will work with Courtiers in a senior adviser role over the next two years to ensure the smooth transition of 54 clients.

Courtiers’ chief executive, Jamie Shepperd, said: “Snowdon Financial has proven capable of delivering a personal wealth management experience, with the vision to support families and their financial goals across generations.

“This approach reflects the way we work at Courtiers and I’m confident clients will feel familiar with the experience to follow, over the next two years and into the future.”

Future acquisitions

The acquisition is Courtiers’ first since April 2018, when it joined forces with Kent-based De Brae Investment Management and Henley-on-Thames firm, Paragon Independent Financial Solutions.

Shepperd said Courtiers could potentially make two more acquisitions later in the year.

The deals could see Courtiers’ assets under management above £1bn, with approximately 110 people working across the group.
