Hanging in there

For global markets, the third quarter of 2015 was anything but the traditional period of summer downtime.

With many City desks unmanned – their occupants sunning themselves amid the crumbling ruins of the Greek economy or traipsing around South East Asia and other beauty spots – led by China, markets adopted a ‘when the cat’s away…’ mentality.

As Chinese A-shares tumbled other markets were dragged with it, leading to a global equities rout – not to mention the ongoing ‘trivialities’ in the fixed income and commodities spaces – which, while it has abated to some extent, is still offering no indication as to where it will go next.

But in the midst of such carnage a question arises: which managers swam with the tide, and who got taken under?

As it should be, we will do the good news first…
