Heading up the new office is former head of corporate clients at Americas of Amicorp, Tomás Alonso, who has joined as managing director of Zedra Corporate Services.

His brief will cover business growth and opportunities in North and Latin America as well as support sales and representative needs for Zedra’s corporate, funds and private clients.

In the last year, Zedra has already hired a new managing director for its London office, appointed two new business heads in Singapore and Jersey and established a presence in Sydney, Australia.

Alonso’s previous experience also includes working for law firm Garrigues & Andersen in Spain, as well the offices of Arthur Andersen and Deloitte in Miami.

He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and of the International Bar Association, as well as the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Niels Nielsen, chief executive of Zedra, said that having a presence in Miami and the appointment of Alonso will strengthen Zedra’s footprint in the region.

“His unique experience, global network and industry knowledge will be fundamental and of great value as we develop our business and look for new opportunities both here and further afield.”

Former Jersey-based Barclays trust business Zedra has around 500 staff worldwide based in 14 global offices, with approximately 140 employees based in Jersey.
