Barclays has appointed Neil McCluskey to head its Jersey-based corporate (offshore and local), business banking, premier banking and retail operations.

The bank said in overseeing its Jersey offshore corporate team McCluskey will be working to develop Barclays reach and to “extend delivery of its offering for global corporates in the 50 plus countries in which it operates – a significant growth opportunity”.

McCluskey joins Barclays from Clydesdale Bank where he was managing partner of the Thames Valley region from August 2007. This role covered offices in Reading, Basingstoke and High Wycombe in the UK and a varied portfolio of businesses including international, agribusiness, healthcare, property, retailers together with a full private banking offering.

“The Banking industry as a whole has faced significant challenges over the last few years, and I plan to use my experience to work with the local teams to build longstanding and trusted relationships with our clients – whether they are local residents, local businesses or global corporate clients,” said McCluskey.
