East Capital has expanded its Hong Kong sales team by appointing Sébastien Gandon as senior account manager.

Gandon who joins the Hong Kong team from East Capital’s European operation will focus on developing relationships with institutional clients for the company in Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Australia.

He has more than ten years of experience in investment strategy, product management and analysis and previously managed relationships with private banks, multi-managers, institutions and family offices in a number of countries

Gandon also had a stint with Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management in Paris, for five years and prior to that worked in audit for financial institutions with Deloitte in Luxembourg.

Michael Hanson-Lawson, chief executive of East Capital Asia termed the appointment as a “further indication” of the importance the firm places on Asia.

“Asia has long been a key market for East Capital,” said Hanson-Lawson.

“We have built a strong operation in Asia and have capitalised on the increasing interest from institutional and wholesale investors in our funds. Focusing on our Eastern European fund range as well as our Asian products, Sébastien brings rich experience and a solid understanding of this dynamic,” he added.

Founded in 1997, East Capital is a specialist in emerging and frontier markets with assets worth EUR 3.5bn (£2.88bn, $4.82bn) in public equity, private equity and real estate. It is headquartered in Stockholm, with offices in Hong Kong, Kyiv, Luxembourg, Moscow, Oslo, Paris and Tallinn
