Sartorel will be responsible for one of the key growth regions of Allianz Group that is active in 14 Asian markets, employing over 35,000 people with 20m customers.
In April 2010, Sartorel was appointed CEO of Allianz Italy where he guided the integration of three Allianz companies–Ras, Lloyd Adriatico and Allianz Subalpina–into One Allianz Italy. The process was concluded in June 2013.
The Asia-Pacific position has been vacant since David Fried left the group in January and joined Australian insurer QBE as CEO Asia-Pacific in April.
Klaus-Peter Röhler, currently CEO of Allianz Suisse, will takeover as CEO of Allianz Italy, the insurer said in a statement on its website.
Among other management changes, Severin Moser will be the new CEO of Allianz Switzerland, who is currently CEO of Allianz Versicherungs and member of the board of management of Allianz Deutschland.
Moser will be succeeded by Alexander Vollert, currently member of the board of management and chief operating officer of Allianz Deutschland. The tasks of Vollert will be taken over by Manfred Knof in addition to his current duties as member of the board of Management of Allianz Deutschland.
