PEOPLE MOVES: Lombard Odier, Manulife, Legg Mason

Lombard Odier Private Bank has added six to its roster as the company builds its UK presence. Manulife has announced a promotion in its individual financial products division in Hong Kong, while Legg Mason Global Asset Management has named a business development director.

Lombard Odier Private Bank has added six to its roster as the company builds its UK presence. Manulife has announced a promotion in its individual financial products division in Hong Kong, while Legg Mason Global Asset Management has named a business development director.

Lombard Odier Private Bank

Lombard Odier Private Bank has strengthened its London office with six appointments in a bid to build its presence in the UK.

Chief executive Duncan MacIntyre joined Lombard Odier from Coutts in January and has expanded the team with a new chief operating officer, three private bankers, a new wealth planner and a legal counsel.

Chief operating officer Karl von Bezing will work closely with MacIntyre to support the firm’s ambitions to grow its presence in the UK. He joins from Ernst & Young.

Karen Boecker joins as a senior private banker for the Middle East. She was previously head of the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Mediterranean desk, and supervisor of the international team at Deutsche Bank Wealth Management.

Duygu Gözeler Porchet joins as a private banker for the Turkish market from Deutsche Bank where she was vice president, asset and wealth management (Middle East & Africa).

Aurélie Jaclot joins as a private banker for the French market, was previously a senior private banker at Pictet & Cie SA for eight years, based in Paris.  

Géraldine Appert has been appointed as a wealth planner, joining from SG Hambros where she was head of the international wealth planning team.

Louise Dobbyn joins as legal counsel, having previously been an associate at Ashurst.

Manulife

Wilton Kee has been promoted to vice president and chief product officer, individual financial products for Manulife in Hong Kong. He joined the company in 2013 as assistant vice president and pricing officer, individual financial products, Hong Kong, overseeing its marketing actuarial functions.

Last year, he took on the dual role of heading up both marketing actuarial and product development for the individual financial products business, in which he played an active part in its overall strategy and direction.

Legg Mason Global Asset Management

Legg Mason has appointed Harry Reeves as its business development director covering the south of England. He joins from Neptune Investment Management and will be responsible for building on existing relationships across the region and seeking out new opportunities for the business.

Reporting to head of UK sales Adam Gent, Reeves will work closely with the group’s nine subsidiaries including Western Asset, ClearBridge Investments, RARE Infrastructure, and Brandywine Global.

Old Mutual Wealth

Leon Deist has been named chief oinformation officer of Old Mutual Wealth, effective 1 December 2016. He will assume responsibility for overseeing OMW’s technology and change functions and will report to Steve Braudo, chief operating officer.

He will join the business from Liberty Group in South Africa, where he was responsible for technology transformation, digital strategy and shared service operations. Prior to that, he was director of Enablement at Virgin Money (SA) responsible for the technology build and outsourced operations, and a founding member of Arivia, a technology outsource service provider that managed some of the biggest outsource contracts in the country.  

Perpetual Investments

Australia’s Perpetual Investments has named Matt Thompson general manager of distribution. He has held the role of head of wholesale business for the last three years, having joined Perpetual in early 2012. His promotion follows the resignation of Dean Winterton.

Hilbert Investment Solutions

Specialist structured product firm Hilbert Investment Solutions has appointed Harriet Brooke-Taylor as its business services manager to oversee the relationship with their custodian and administrator and to boost its service levels with IFAs.

Brooke-Taylor previously worked for a structured product provider as a client services team leader managing client and IFA relationships since 2012.

Odey Asset Management

Dipankar Shewaram has joined the investment team of Odey to work alongside Tim Bond managing the Odey Odyssey Fund. He joins from Western Asset Management, having previously worked at BlueBay Asset Management.

Securities and Exchange Commission

The US SEC has named Melissa Hodgman associate director of the watchdog’s Enforcement Division, succeeding Stephen Cohen who stepped down in June.

Hodgman began working in the Enforcement Division in 2008 as a staff attorney.  She joined the Market Abuse Unit in 2010 and was promoted to assistant director in 2012.
