The appointment merry-go-round has begun to turn in 2016; with Aviva Investors, Old Mutual Global Investors, and BNP Paribas Securities Services among those announcing appointments, promotions, and departures.

Aviva Investors

David Clayton was appointed chief finance officer on 17 December, while Mike Craston will join as global head of business development on 14 January 2016, subject to regulatory approval. They will be based in London and be part of Aviva Investor’s executive team.

Clayton will be responsible for the company’s financial affairs; including reporting, capital, and performance. He has over 30 years’ experience in the financial sector, having previously held senior roles at Standard Life and PwC.

Craston will oversee business development activities worldwide, encompassing client solutions, client services, product and market intelligence, marketing, and external communications. Most recently, he worked at Legal & General Investment Management for over 10 years, during which time he led global distribution and client servicing and also served as chief executive for both its Americas and Asia businesses.

Old Mutual Global Investors

Eric Bateman has joined OMGI as head of Benelux and France distribution. Based in Edinburgh, Bateman is responsible for growing the company’s presence in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France.

He has over 22 years’ experience in the investment management industry and joins OMGI from Kleinwort Benson Investors, where he worked as business development manager, Europe.

BNP Paribas Securities Services

Philippe Benoit has been appointed head of Asia Pacific operations for BNP Paribas Securities Services, replacing Lawrence Au.

Benoit assumes his role in Hong Kong with immediate effect, having previously served as BNP Paribas Securities’ global head of finance, legal, and ALM Treasury in Paris.

Au will remain with the company in the capacity of an executive adviser. It is understood that Au’s new role is part of his retirement plan, which will see him transition out of the company.

Elian

Kees Jager has joined Elian as an associate director and will lead the Guernsey fund services team. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the Guernsey fund industry, having previously worked at Northern Trust and held various directorships spanning all aspects of fund structures.

Working closely with Jager, Leasa Callaway has been promoted to manager and Sally Ann Brehaut has joined the firm as an assistant manager – compliance.

Callaway joined Elian four years ago and has more than 20 years’ experience in the fund industry, having previously worked at Heritage, Northern Trust, and Bachmann Fund Administration.

Brehaut joins Elian from Heritage, where she spent eight years working as a compliance officer and money laundering reporting officer.
