FundRock

FundRock has hired Paul Spendiff as group head of business development, based in the firm’s London office.

Spendiff is an experienced managing director and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in financial markets and services.

He has worked with clients from around the world looking to establish European management and fund structures for both open and closed-ended funds.

Spendiff joins from Apex Fund Services where he was head of European sales and managing director of their UK operations.

Franklin Templeton

Andrew Ness is to join Franklin Templeton Investments as a portfolio manager on 17 September and be part of the Global Emerging Markets (GEM) investment team.

Before taking up the role at Franklin Templeton, he was a senior member of Martin Currie’s global emerging markets equity team.

Previously, he held similar roles for Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and Deutsche Asset Management, having begun his investment career at Murray Johnstone in 1994.

At Franklin Templeton he will be a portfolio manager for the London Stock Exchange-listed Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust (Temit).

Ness will work alongside Temit lead portfolio manager Chetan Sehgal, who continues to serve as director of portfolio management for GEM.

Over time, he will be named as a portfolio manager of additional global emerging markets strategies.

Ness will be based in Edinburgh and will report to Manraj Sekhon, chief information officer for Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity.

BNP Paribas

BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointment Jane Ambachtsheer as global head of sustainability.

She will report to Frédéric Janbon, chief executive and head of investments at BNPP AM. Based in Paris, she will join the firm on 27 August.

In her new role, Ambachtsheer will be responsible for BNPP AM’s overarching approach to sustainability.

Together with Helena Viñes-Fiestas, BNPP AM’s deputy head of sustainability, she will lead on sustainability-related research, environmental social & governance (ESG) integration, engagement, advocacy and governance.

Ambachtsheer was previously partner and chair of responsible investment at Mercer, where she oversaw the strategy for the responsible investment team and advised investors around the world.

She has spent more than 20 years in the investment industry, with a focus on responsible investment since 2003, after joining Mercer as an investment analyst in 2000.

Further, she was a consultant to the United Nations through the development of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), which are now supported by more than 1,800 signatories.
