PEOPLE MOVES: China Life, Amundi, Brewin Dolphin

By Cristian Angeloni, 2 Jan 19

Changes at the top for China Life and London addition for Brewin Dolphin

China Life

The president and executive director of China Life, Lin Dairen, announced his retirement in December 2018.

Su Hengxuan, who was previously a non-executive director for the company, has been appointed president and executive director of China Life, pending approval from the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.

Hengxuan is currently the vice president of the China Life Group and has held several positions in the company since 2000.

Amundi

Amundi has appointed Clarisse Djabbari as its head of strategy and development of the ETF, indexing and smart beta department.

Djabbari started out in the financial industry at Deloitte in 1995, then moving to Société Générale CIB and Lyxor Asset Management.

Brewin Dolphin

Brewin Dolphin’s West End office has added Rory Corstorphine as wealth director; one of the many hires in the past few months by the wealth management firm.

Corstorphine joins from UBS and Kleinwort Benson after starting out in the banking industry in 2000. He is also a chartered fellow of the CISI.

Royal London

Royal London has appointed Candia Kingston as an independent member of its Investment Advisory Committee.

Kingston has over 20 years’ experience in the pension and investment industry having chaired several trustee boards. She is the third independent member to join the committee, which is tasked with overlooking whether the assets in the firm’s portfolio are the best mix for customers’ objectives.

ML Capital

After five and a half years, Dermot Smurfit has stepped down as chairman of ML Capital at the end of 2018, as he feels it’s time for a new phase of growth in the company.

The position will be filled by Barry McGrath, following approval from the board. McGrath headed Maples and Calders Dublin Investment Fund practice between 2008 and 2017.
