Redmayne Bentley completes Blankstone acquisition

By Mark Battersby, 18 Jul 24

Blankstone Sington entered special administration in mid-October last year

UK wealth management and stockbroking firm Redmayne Bentley has successfully integrated the private client business of Blankstone Sington.

This milestone sees the firm opening its doors to 1,700 clients, along with the creation of four new jobs and a new office in Liverpool city centre.

Blankstone Sington entered special administration in mid-October last year, resulting in client assets and money being frozen. Administrators – while working with the Board, the FCA and the FSCS – sought to identify a suitable firm to receive the client bank and provide ongoing services.

In late April, Redmayne Bentley was announced as the preferred firm and has since worked with the administrators and other key parties, to ensure a quick and smooth transition, enabling clients to be reunited with their assets and cash.

In preparation for receiving the clients and their assets, Redmayne Bentley opened a new office at the market leading office space ‘Twenty Chapel Street’, based in Liverpool’s centre – other tenants include Liverpool FC, Barclays Wealth and Link Group. The firm has also appointed former Blankstone employees Ben Taxman, Sarah Eden-Heyes, Enid Aubrey and Ali Keegan, who will be the point of contact for clients, assisted by the firm’s 200-strong Leeds head office.

Stuart Davis, Chief Executive, Redmayne Bentley said: “For the former Blankstone clients, finalising the transfer of their assets and cash to Redmayne Bentley hopefully concludes a chapter of uncertainty, frustration and worry. We are delighted to support them with our award-winning personal investment management, financial planning and traditional stockbroking services.

“We are also very pleased to welcome Ben, Sarah, Enid and Ali who have a combined industry experience of over 100 years. They have been working with us to support a smooth client transition and are now supporting clients with a continued service.

“This acquisition supports our long-term strategy for growth, while continuing to focus on delivering excellence.”

Established in 1875, Redmayne Bentley is one of the largest independent private client wealth management and stockbroking firms in the UK, with more than 150 client-facing investment professionals and over 25 offices throughout the UK. Later this year the firm will enter its 150th year of business.
