Lighthouse Canton names Won-Ki Kim as head of global institutional sales

By Editorial Staff, 18 Nov 24

He will have a particular emphasis on Korea, Japan, and North America

Lighthouse Canton’s asset management business has appointed Won-Ki Kim as the head of global institutional sales.

Kim brings over two decades of experience in institutional sales with global investment banks, boasting an impressive track record across major financial markets in Asia. His career has spanned roles at prominent firms such as BNP Paribas, Merrill Lynch, Barclays, and TD Securities, where he successfully established and expanded coverage for key markets like Korea and Japan.

At Lighthouse Canton, Kim (pictured) will lead the asset management business’s fundraising efforts, focusing on building and expanding its institutional investor coverage worldwide, with a particular emphasis on Korea, Japan, and North America. His hiring further enhances the Asset Management business’s capabilities, as it continues to drive economic development and enable cross-border deal flows in emerging sectors and industries across Southeast Asia and India.

Earlier this year, the asset management business signed an MOU with NH ARP, the Singapore entity of NH Securities, part of the NH Group in Korea, to co-invest in the Indian and Southeast Asian private debt markets, focusing on supporting SMEs and start-ups in the region.

Lighthouse Canton has also invested alongside Ivanhoe Cambridge, CDPQ’s real estate investment arm, into South Asia’s largest Life Sciences R&D office labs portfolio, Neovantage Innovation Parks, located in India’s largest biotech cluster, Genome Valley, Hyderabad. These partnerships underscore Lighthouse Canton’s ability to facilitate cross-border investment opportunities and catalyse economic development across North America, India, and the broader Asian region.

“Won-Ki’s appointment reflects our continued focus on expanding our global footprint and deepening relationships with key institutional partners worldwide,” said Sanket Sinha, managing director, global head of asset management Lighthouse Canton. “His extensive experience and proven track record will be invaluable as we continue to deliver innovative investment strategies and exceptional value to our clients and stakeholders globally.”

Lighthouse Canton has consistently demonstrated its ability to build strong, long-term relationships with institutional investors, leveraging its deep market insights and innovative investment approach. Lighthouse Canton, which oversees over $3.7bn in assets under management and advisory as of June 30, 2024, employs more than 160 experienced professionals across its offices in Singapore, Dubai, India, and London. It provides comprehensive wealth and asset management services to a diverse clientele, including ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, private accredited investors, and institutional investors.

Lighthouse Canton’s Asset Management service comprises internal product capabilities in hedge funds, private equity, traditional fundamental analysis, investing through multiple strategies in real estate private equity, private credit, venture capital, venture debt, public equities, and global macros.
