PEOPLE MOVES: SLI, Nikko AM, Hargreaves Lansdown

SLI has created a new role focusing on environment, social, and governance investment. Nikko AM added to their global emerging markets team, while Hargreaves Lansdown announced a surprise departure.

SLI has created a new role focusing on environment, social, and governance investment. Nikko AM added to their global emerging markets team, while Hargreaves Lansdown announced a surprise departure.

Standard Life Investments (SLI)

Euan Stirling has been appointed to the new role of head of stewardship and ESG (environment, social, governance) investments at SLI.

Stirling joined the company in January 2001 from Schroder Investment Management. As a senior fund manager and investment analyst in the UK Equity Team, he has managed a range of institutional UK equity portfolios for both public and private sector pension schemes.

Nikko Asset Management

Raphael Marechal has been appointed senior portfolio manager, global emerging markets at Nikko Asset Management. Marechal has joined the Global Fixed Income team and will be based in London. 

He brings nearly 20 years’ experience managing emerging market debt and joins Nikko Asset Management from BlackRock in London where he was a senior member with the emerging markets team. Prior to this he worked at BNP Paribas Investment Partners and Fortis Investments.

Hargreaves Lansdown

Chief operating officer Vikki Williams has departed Hargreaves Lansdown for personal reasons, just eight months after joining the firm.

She left Barclays in June 2015, where she was managing director of shared services, to take up her new role at Hargreaves; where she was on the board of a number of the company’s subsidiaries, including Hargreaves Lansdown Asset Management.

A replacement has not yet been named.

Professional Investment Advisory Services (PIAS)

Yeow Liang Soh was been named head of partnership for Singapore-based Aviva subsidiary PIAS, effective from 1 February 2016.

In the newly created role, Soh will spearhead the development and deliverance of product and partnership strategy for insurance, investment & wealth management, as well as operational activities.

Prior to joining PIAS, Soh was head of partnership distribution with Tokio Marine, responsible for the formulation and implementation of channel strategy for IFA, bancassurance, and international brokers.  

Blacktower Financial Management

Joe Kelly has joined Blacktower as a member of the board in Gibraltar. He has been appointed to assist with the overall expansion of the wealth management division and Blacktower’s IFA network, Nexus Global.

Kelly has worked in the life industry for around 30 years; for companies including Lloyds Life, CMI, Skandia International, and RL360.

Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC)

The GFSC announced that board chairman John Tattersall has come to the end of his term, having serviced six years as a board member, the last two as chairman.

Jonathan Spencer, who has been a member of the GFSC since 2011, has been appointed his successor.
