Brite Advisors appoints US chief executive

By Kirsten Hastings, 18 Mar 20

Hong Kong-based firm acquired the business from Devere in December 2018

Former Carrick Wealth managing director Michael Potts has been named chief executive of Brite Advisors’ US operation, effective from Monday 16 of March.

Potts holds qualifications from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), as well as certification in regulatory examinations with South Africa’s Financial Services Board.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Potts has been a financial adviser since 2010 and joined Carrick in 2015.

Based in New York, he succeeds Martin Byrne who will remain with the company until the summer.

Finding a fit

Brite founder and group chief executive Mark Donnelly said he wanted a well-respected industry leader with international experience.

“We’ve been searching for the right person for a number of months and Mike was the perfect fit,” said Donnelly.

In his role, Potts will be responsible for operations, client relationships and business development.

“This is an incredible opportunity and I’m very excited by Brite’s business model of offering the whole piece from advisory to pension trustee and asset management together with transparent, low fees.” said Potts.

Global business

In addition to New York, Brite also has a presence in Asia, Australia, the USA, the UK, the UAE and South Africa.

The firm is registered with the financial services regulators in various countries, including the FCA, Asic, SEC, SFC and FSCA.

On top of acquiring the US arm of Devere Group, Brite also bought its South Africa business in late 2019.
