The FCA is recruiting 2 new members to join the Financial Services Consumer Panel, an independent statutory panel that represents the interests of consumers of financial services to the FCA.
Panel members offer expert advice and challenges to help ensure the consumer perspective is fully embedded in the way the regulator’s policies are developed and implemented. Members engage regularly with senior FCA colleagues, including the chair, chief executive and executive committee, and contribute across a wide range of current and emerging issues affecting consumers.
In an advertisement for the openings, the regulator said it is looking for individuals with strong expertise and experience in areas such as consumer policy, behavioural insights, innovation and technology, fintech or digital markets, retail banking, investments and payments.
In 2023-24, the FCA said some of the key topics the panel covered included the cost-of-living crisis, the implementation, supervision and enforcement of the new Consumer Duty – a policy that requires firms to act in customers’ best interests – and the future development of the regulatory framework, as well as a wide range of sector-specific issues.
The closing date for applications is 15 May 2026 and applicants can apply here.
