PEOPLE MOVES: Jupiter, Sun Life, HSBC

Fund manager CEO retires, while insurer names Hong Kong general manager for life and health

Jupiter Fund Management

Chief executive Andrew Formica will retire from his role and as a director of the company, effective from 1 October 2022.

Current group chief investment officer Matthew Beesley will succeed him and is immediately promoted to the board of directors and deputy chief executive.

Beesley will also retain his current responsibilities during the transition.

Formica will relocate to Australia, but remain at the company until 30 June 2023 as well as on the board of NZS Capital as the company’s representative.

Sun Life

Christine Yeung has become general manager for life and health at Sun Life Hong Kong.

She joins from FTLife, where she served as chief commercial and product officer.

Additionally, general manager for distribution Steven Fong has resigned to pursue other opportunities and his successor will be named at a later date.

HSBC

The UK-headquartered bank has hired Gabriel Castello as regional head of private banking for Emea, chief executive of the Swiss private bank and country head for Switzerland.

He will join the company in July 2022, based in Switzerland.

He was previously at Quintet private Bank, where he was a partner and a member of the group executive committee.

Impax Asset Management

The asset manager has made two senior hires.

Charles French will become deputy chief investment officer for listed equities. He joins from Newton Investment Management, where he held several senior positions, including most recently head of equity opportunities.

Additionally, Annette Wilson has joined the company as a non-executive director, effective from 28 June 2022. She will sit on the firm’s audit & risk and remuneration committees.

Wilson was a partner and chief operating officer at Finch Capital and was the founding chief financial officer of Palamon Capital Partners.

Alliance Bernstein

The investment management firm has bolstered its UK retail team to meet growing client demand.

Thomas King has been named UK retail sales manager and will be responsible for developing commercial relationships with intermediaries and retail clients in the country.

Most recently, King was at Federated Hermes, where he served as manager of wholesale sales for London and the south east.

James Hambro & Partners (JH&P)

The wealth manager had promoted Ned Francis and Andrew Rice to partners.

Financial planning director Francis joined in 2012 and will be based in Leeds, while head of finance Rice has been at the firm for the last six years in London.
