Jupiter has promoted Simon Hynes as global head of distribution with immediate effect.

Hynes, who has been at Jupiter for 12 years, has been working as head of client coverage UK, a role in which he has been responsible for all UK distribution channels, including retail, wealth management and institutional sales.

With 25 years’ experience in financial services, he joined in 2002 as national and networks sales manager.

His new role will see him taking over responsibility for sales and marketing globally, picking up from distribution and strategy director Maarten Slendenbroek, who will succeed Edward Bonham Carter when he becomes chief executive on 17 March.

Slendenbroek, who joined the company in September 2012, said: “Simon has established himself as a key member of the management team at Jupiter. He has a deep understanding of both our business and the fund management industry and has been instrumental in driving our growth in the UK over several years. It is pleasing to broaden his responsibilities further with this new role.”

Hynes said he was looking forward to helping the group achieve its strategic goals, adding: “Jupiter has enjoyed strong growth since I joined the company in 2002 and the opportunities for further expansion in both the UK and internationally are significant.”
