PEOPLE MOVES: SLI, Quilter Cheviot, Lombard Odier IM…

Standard Life Investments has appointed a chief executive and representative director in Japan, Quilter Cheviot has created a new head of business development role, while Lombard Odier IM has strengthened its German and Austrian sales team.

Standard Life Investments has appointed a chief executive and representative director in Japan, Quilter Cheviot has created a new head of business development role, while Lombard Odier IM has strengthened its German and Austrian sales team.

Standard Life Investments

SLI has named Neil Slater as chief executive and representative director in Japan. In his new role Slater will lead a team of 11, covering business and client servicing functions.

He will report to London-based Colin Clark, executive director and head of global client group.

The firm also named Mikifumi Watanabe as vice chairman in Japan. Reporting to Slater, Watanabe is responsible for the development of business strategy.

Quilter Cheviot

Investment management firm Quilter Cheviot has appointed Scott Stevens to its newly created head of business development role. He joins from BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA where he was head of marketing & communications

Stevens will have strategic oversight of all aspects of new business activities across the company, as well as overseeing the marketing function.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers

Lombard Odier IM has strengthened its German and Austrian sales team with the appointment of Matthias Deutsch as sales manager. He joins from Vontobel Asset Management where he covered German institutional clients as a client service manager.

Based in Frankfurt and reporting to Frank Stefes, head of sales, Germany and Austria, Deutsch will focus on building Lombard Odier IM’s relationships with banks, savings banks, family offices, fund of funds, asset manager and fund platforms in Germany and Austria. 

Standard Chartered Bank

StanChart’s vice chairman of Asean, Lim Cheng Teck, is to retire on 1 May 2016 after more than 28 years with the bank.

Lim will continue to support StanChart’s regional chief executive for Asean and south Asia, Ajay Kanwal, as a senior adviser. He will also remain president commissioner of PT Bank Permata in Indonesia.

The bank advised that it will not replace Lim.  

Temasek

Singapore government-owned investment company Temasek has appointed Chia Song Hwee and Dilhan Pillay as presidents, effective from 1 May. The changes come as the company realigns itself with its core priorities.   

The company also announced the appointments of Fidah Alsagoff, Michael Buchanan, Png Chin Yee and Juliet Teo as senior managing directors, also effective from 1 May.

Details relating to specific roles and responsibilities were not revealed.

Swiss-Asia

Former head of emerging markets at Carmignac, Wen Zhang Goldberg has been appointed portfolio manager of investment boutique Swiss-Asia Holdings. She will serve as lead manager on the Shanti Indiasean fund, as part of the firm’s push to grow its Asian footprint.

JHC Systems

Wealth management solutions firm JHC Systems has appointed Amir Hakim as its new head of wealth solutions. Hakim brings more than 20 years’ financial industry experience, having worked across the buy-side and sell-sides of wealth management.
