eaton vance unveils new em and global funds

30 May 12

Eaton Vance is bringing an emerging market and a global fund into Europe through a Dublin-domiciled range.

The new funds are managed by Parametric Portfolio Associates, a majority-owned subsidiary of New York-listed Eaton Vance Corp.

The Eaton Vance International (Ireland) Parametric Emerging Markets Core and the Eaton Vance International (Ireland) Parametric Global Equity funds follow a rules-based investment process looking for volatility and a systematic rebalancing to boost returns.

Parametric is of the opinion that more traditional market-cap-weighted indices, particularly in emerging markets where it has used this process since 1994, expose investors to unwanted concentration risks.

The emerging market fund invests in companies that are either domiciled in or derive a large percentage of their revenues from emerging market countries.

The Eaton Vance International (Ireland) Parametric Global Equity Fund follows the same process and spreads it across emerging and developed markets.

Initially, the funds will offer a dollar share class.
