kinetic partners puts founder korek in charge

By Mark Battersby, 25 Jan 13

Kinetic Partners, the professional services company to the asset management investment banking and broking industry, has appointed one of its founders Julian Korek as chief executive to lead an expanded management team.

Kinetic Partners, the professional services company to the asset management investment banking and broking industry, has appointed one of its founders Julian Korek as chief executive to lead an expanded management team.

Over the last eight years, Kinetic Partners has grown from a single headquarters in London to a global presence with offices in New York, Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands, Geneva, Dublin, Luxembourg and the Channel Islands.

In his new role, Korek will be supported by a core management team selected to meet the “increasingly challenging demands of global financial services firms operating across multiple jurisdictions”, the firm stated.

These include two senior ex-regulators, Andrew Shrimpton and Monique Melis, as well as Geoff Varga and Nick Matthews, who will be responsible for Kinetic Partners’ corporate recovery and restructuring, and forensic practices, respectively.

In addition, one of the three original founders David Butler, will be leaving the firm “in the near future and will be pursuing other opportunities”, while the other founder Raymond O’Neill, will work on delivering key strategic projects for Kinetic Partners.

Korek said: “Our clients have clearly intimated that they see the US and Asia as the regions where the most growth will occur and our management team appointments reflect this.”

New hires made over the last few months include:

  • Kim Frisinger to lead the forensic team in Hong Kong
  • Caroline Gibbs as a director in the compliance team in London
  • Deb Weston as the member in charge of the global audit team
  • Gary James to lead a specialist China tax team in Hong Kong
