NBAD asset management MD and CIO steps down

23 Jul 14

Mark Watts, the managing director and chief financial officer of the asset management division of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi has stepped down.

Mark Watts, the managing director and chief financial officer of the asset management division of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi has stepped down.

According to a note sent by Watts to his contacts earlier on today, he had taken the "difficult decision" to leave the business in order to re-join his family in the UK.

Watts joined the business in May 2010 as head of fixed income for NBAD’s asset management group – a role which he held for two years until being promoted to the position from which he now departs.

In his note, Watts said he is “extremely proud of the achievements of the team”, adding that the business he leaves is “unrecognisable compared to four years ago”.

While Watts gives no indication of where he may move to in the future, he does say after spending time with his family he intends to “return to the markets”.
