The asset and wealth management industry is about to usher in a period of disruption, with cyber security threats a big concern, chief executives across the sector have warned.
Almost three quarters (73%) of AWM chiefs are “somewhat or extremely concerned” about cyber security threats, the PwC report found.
This figure backs up research by Osney Media and BackBay Communications, who surveyed 88 asset managers in February. Its research found that cyber security improvements are a key business priority for 33% of asset managers and that 65% believe the threat posed by cyber crime to their organisation is greater than in 2017.
As a result, 50% of asset managers say they plan to increase spending on cyber security this year.
