Park has worked for the firm for the past five years as an Asia analyst and will take up his new role at the end of this month.
Korean national Park will be based in Paris, having started his business career in London in 2004 with Hyundai Securities, the South Korean investment bank.
The Carmignac Emerging Discovery Sicav sits within the emerging equities team run by Simon Pickard who will be giving up his responsibilities as co-manager of this particular fund. He will remain manager of the Carmignac Emergent and co-manager of the Carmignac Emerging Patrimoine (with Frédéric Leroux and Charles Zerah) funds.
Park will instead work alongside current co-manager Xavier Hovasse.
The appointment comes a matter of months after Carmignac Gestion opened up its London office, with Matthew Wright as its head of country, UK. It is part of the firm’s strategy to offer a tailor-made client proposition rather than simply transferring a continental strategy into the UK.
