indian bank axis sets up first branch in uk

India’s third-largest lender Axis Bank yesterday unveiled its first branch in the UK after obtaining permission to set up in April.

India’s third-largest lender Axis Bank yesterday unveiled its first branch in the UK after obtaining permission to set up in April.

Located in the City of London, Axis Bank will initially offer deposit accounts as well as loans, advances and investment products.

Axis Bank UK chief executive Cyril Anand said it would pursue corporate and retail banking opportunities beyond the UK into Europe.

The group has already built a presence in Singapore, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.
