Investment firm partners with LatAm asset manager

By Robbie Lawther, 13 May 19

The agreement will provide the company with ‘deeper insight into markets in Latin America’

Swedish emerging and frontier markets specialist East Capital has agreed an investment advisory partnership deal with Credicorp Capital Asset Management to bolster its focus on Latin America.

Credicorp Capital AM will be fully integrated into East Capital’s investment process, working directly with team members focusing on Latin America, and providing advisory support on the current macroeconomic and political environment, as well as analysis of target investment and divestment opportunities.

Peter Elam Håkansson, chairman and chief investment officer of East Capital, said: “This cooperation with Credicorp will provide East Capital with deeper insight into markets in Latin America.

“We believe the investment style of East Capital and Credicorp are very compatible.

“We expect their input and market knowledge to significantly enhance our investment capabilities in Latin America.”

Philosophy

The firm’s hope the partnership will help bolster investments into various areas alongside Latin America, including incorporating environment, social and governance standards into the investment process.

This means favouring companies with long-term, sustainable growth perspectives and responsible owners.

James Loveday, regional head of Credicorp Capital Asset Management, said: “We are confident that the integration of sustainability factors into our investment process and the focus on in-depth research and a long-term approach will yield positive results for both firms and our clients.”
